Mike Moody graduated from BYU with Mitt Romney in 1971, where both were members of the prestigious Cougar Club. Now, Mike confronts Mitt on the validity of Mormon doctrine and challenges him to lead LDS pioneer families out of their multi-generational spiritual and intellectual darkness. Moody writes, “My mission to the Mormons is serious, so I have only one choice. Mitt, I’m calling you out! No, I’m not suggesting we have a dust up, duke it out or wrestle around in the dirt like a couple of dorks – as the Prophet Joseph Smith frequently did. Fisticuffs are not my proposition. We’re a little long in the tooth for that stuff, anyway. Sir, I challenge you to treat yourself to a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Venti and step forward as a modern day Moses to the Mormon people.”
Mike Moody believes freeing the Mormon people is a higher calling for Mitt than continuing to pursue the U.S. Presidency. He respects Mitt enough to believe that only somebody of his stature – akin to a Thirteenth Mormon Apostle – can “begin the exodus of our people out of Joseph Smith’s wilderness of polytheism, polygamy, coveted levels of Heaven, Masonic-based temple rituals, and a simplistic Newtonian/Copernican universe.” In his memoir, Moody debunks as absurd the LDS Church’s claims that Joseph Smith talked to Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon peoples are real, and polygamy is the eternal order of the universe.
